BDS has some impressive employees in its ranks: from industry influencers to professional cart drivers, from highly skilled technicians to equestrians. Our Employee Spotlight series highlights the talented team members who make up our incredible BDS Family. We’ll release monthly Employee Spotlight interviews and videos on this blog and our social accounts.
Outside of work, Kate loves horror movies, Halloween, and spending time with her family and friends.
How long you’ve worked at BDS?
I celebrated my 8 year anniversary this past June.
If you could describe your job in three words, what would they be?
Challenging, Evolving, and Fulfilling.
Challenging because we were much smaller when I started, and we have expanded exponentially. I’ve moved offices from Natick to Marlborough, gained new customers, new vendors, and a more significant workload.
And I guess that ties into evolving with new business practices as far as accounting goes and fulfillment because it shows me that you can do anything you put your mind to. It makes me feel good about myself.
What do you like most about your job?
I like training new people. It feels good to share your knowledge, and I think it helps that I have a great team to back me up. I don’t think I could have done it without my team.
We have a great team and atmosphere.
What is something that most people at BDS don’t know about you?
This is a little hard for me, but I would say that I’m fairly obsessed with Halloween and everything involved. I love horror movies. All October long, my friends and I binge classic Halloween/horror movies all month in honor. I still have Halloween decorations in my kitchen that I’ve left up. Some people leave Christmas lights all year. I leave my pumpkin lights!”
How would you describe your personality?
Loyal. I stick it out for the long term, whatever it is that I’m involved in, whether it be work or relationships. I’m loyal and dedicated.
Where is your happy place?
That’s a pretty deep question. On a smaller scale, I would say my happy place is at my Mom’s house. There are always friends coming and going. She has a koi pond in the backyard, and my brother’s garage is next door, so it’s always a good time going over there and being with friends and family.
Name one thing you just can’t live without?
I guess that ties into the previous question. I cannot live without my friends and family. I think it’s important always to have people who love and support you, make you laugh and feel good about yourself, and bring you up.
Last question: What’s your motto or personal mantra?
Tomorrow is a new day.
If you’re having a bad day, the next day will be a brand new one. Don’t take any negativity from the previous day. Tomorrow is a brand new day.
