How long have you worked at BDS?
I’ve been working for BDS for just over 1 year and 3 months this May.
Three words/phrases to describe your role
Sell, Sell, & Sell
Once a salesman, always a salesman in our business. I think all salespeople have a trigger mechanism in our brains that never goes away. When we’re challenged to sell something, we figure out a way to do it.
Can you tell us more about your role, and what you like most about it?
There’s a lot I love about my job. Sincerely, it’s building relationships and getting to meet people. I’ve always been a people person, and believe that getting to know a person first, business will always follow. I have so many long-lasting relationships that started out as business and now we’re longtime friends.
What is something that most people at BDS do not know about you?
Probably the story of how Native American Indians get their name. My name is “Broken Arrow”. There’s a long tradition of when our names are blessed, they’re blessed by our elders. And your name as it is called in Mohegan lives on in our tribal roles forever. People think that the name was given to you, but nowadays people choose their name and then it is blessed.
One thing most people may not know is that the military uses the word “Broken Arrow” but it’s not something we want to hear. It means it’s a lost nuclear weapon. The true journey of how I got my name is a very long story for another day but would love to share with you if you are interested.
How would you describe your personality?
#MrHospitality
I love to entertain people and share new things. It’s a great part of any sales job, building relationships through sharing new cultures and things.
Where is your happy place?
Any beach that has crystal blue aqua warm water. I don’t care where but being there with family and friends would also be great.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
I don’t think it’s one thing, because I cherish too many things and people in my life. I don’t like trick questions like this, because if I wasn’t to say it was my fiancé, I’d pretty much be dead.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
“Work hard, play hard, and enjoy your life because you only have one life to live.”
What do you like best about BDS?
Overall, the company structure, and that leadership and ownership has invested in us in employees. And you can see that it’s a strong reflection of that investment everyday just in terms of everyday teamwork. Everyday regardless, if you have a project that’s going on, everybody gets involved in it as a team.
And when you put long days in, at the end of the day when you can actually sit back and say I had a great day because of the team that helped me, and that family atmosphere where people go out of their way to make sure we’re all successful, to me that’s a great work environment. If it could be replicated in any other business, I’m sure they would embrace it.
